Repair your fuse box quickly and easily without even having to remove it! Because the fuse box is under the rear seat, the main fuel pump relay is prone to melting and becoming damaged. When this happens the engine may stall while driving, or even fail to start at all. The culprit is usually a melted fuel pump relay. The relay gets melted because the rear seat bottom pushes on it and degrades the main fuel pump power connection in the fuse box. The official repair from General Motors is to replace the fuse box and cut a part of the seat frame off. The new fuse box contains a shorter fuel pump relay and works well, but is costly at up to $750 or more for the repair. This repair kit has everything you need to repair your fuse box without replacing it.

Your kit worked great! I am very appreciative that you put together that whole fix so I didn't have to replace the fuse box with another expensive (yet design-flawed) new box. The only little tidbit I'd add is that the new low-profile relay you sent didn't have the pin numbers marked on the bottom, so I had to figure out which direction to insert it by testing it with wires on the battery to make sure I put the high amperage pins in the right holes. Another instruction like "label faces rear" or "front towards enemy" or some such would have been helpful! But on the whole I'm 100% satisfied with the kit and so glad you sell it!

Here is our understanding on those relays. There is no diode or normally closed 5th pin in those relays so on this application they can go either way. The control circuit side and the load circuit side are on opposite diagonal corners. If you rotate it around 180 degrees each circuit remains on the same set of diagonal corners. The coil is just a winding with two leads off the winding, plus a resistor, and is not power/ground specific. The resistor works on both terminals so the computer is protected from the inductive kickback no matter which orientation the relay is installed. The load side is just two contacts that are connected together when the contacts are energized. Since they get connected together anyways the orientation on those is not important either. There are some applications where pin 85 has to be coil ground and pin 30 is the battery positive load constant, etc. So that was smart of you to check it out.
