About us

You may have some car issues that have only 2 options:

1- You choose the hassle of the dealership and pay over-the-top fees– that is IF you can get the backordered parts.

OR

2- You find a better solution.  You get creative and a little dirty until you figure out a better way for a fraction of the cost.

But once the solution is sitting in your hands, and you’ve permanently fixed a problem that’s been on repeat- you know your discovery is meant for BIG things.

That’s how Renegade Solutions Company came to be.

Because good ideas born of hard work, invention and some tinkering deserve to be shared.  (And a customer who just saved a couple thousand always tells their friends!)

Meet Nathan Hansen, founder and owner of Renegade Solutions Company.  Renegade is an Idaho start-up featuring Nathan’s inventions, born out of a make-do attitude and working as an ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician with 2 decades of experience.

Nothing Nathan does is thrown together.  Nathan is a thorough, methodical and detailed thinker.  Which is why his auto repair shop is booked and has a wait list.

Nathan’s integrity was cemented growing up in a 4th-generation potato farming family.  Hard work and making-do was the name of the game.  Nathan always wanted to go beyond that with a passion to improve each repair or modification.  Whether it was running cattle, watering compost, or de-mossing an irrigation sump.

You’ve heard of kids who take apart their toys to see how they work, or scavenged for parts for inventions?  That was Nathan.  At 4 years-old Nathan was playing with magnets, wires and paper clips to “fix” his Grandma’s Chrysler minivan.

Uncle Roger is the one to thank for teaching Nathan to love cars at age 11, towing a junk pickup to the yard for parts.  After saving his money for a tool set, Nathan took the radio out of the pickup and he was hooked.  He went through the AYES program in high school later became an ASE certified Master Automobile Technician and worked for GM and Cadillac.

Working for dealerships and large shops Nathan learned that too often corners get cut and the customer loses.  Mechanics were only allowed to replace faulty parts with the same poorly designed part, which was so frustrating to someone like Nathan who wants to take care of his customers.

Opening his own shop was the best choice, because now he could modify parts, find better designs and solutions and actually FIX the problem the right way.  And it usually came out less expensive than the dealership quote.

The lightbulb moment was when a Nissan Rogue came in with no heat.  Nathan quickly noticed the problem in the heater box, used his plastic welder and spare parts to keep it going longer, and saved a happy customer over $2,000. But a high strength, permanent fix was still needed.

Weeks later Nathan’s mom came in with her Nissan Rogue with the EXACT SAME PROBLEM in the heater box.

What if there was a small design flaw that was causing the same car to have heater box issues?

Nathan dove into the research, and realized that he had the beginnings of an idea that could actually be a HUGE help to the millions of Nissan Rogue owners whose heater and A/C are essential.

(Nathan’s mom was driving home from out of town when the heater failed in her Nissan Rogue. She had to wrap in a blanket to stay warm in Idaho’s freezing temps!)

Nathan tested heater boxes for months and learned every inch of the design and exactly what was needed to permanently fix the issue.  He designed, tested and filed for a patent. Before he could feel good actually selling a product or process he filed the patent to protect the large investment of resources it took to make this idea a reality.

Renegade Solutions Company is here to offer innovative solutions and help people avoid expensive fixes that lack integrity.  ‘Renegade’ for how Nathan has always done things differently, knowing that “traditional” isn’t always what works best.  And ‘Solutions’ for his favorite part of auto repair- finding a workable solution.

Nathan will always be adding to the list of quality, affordable solutions, mostly because he can never turn off the “inventor” energy inside.  He lives in Idaho Falls, Idaho on the same land he grew up on.  He loves God and puts his wife and 5 children first. Always.
