Instructions, instructions, instructions...

A lot has happened here at Renegade Solutions Company over the past year! We finally were able to start selling our Nissan Rogue Heater Fix™️ kits in September of last year (2024). It has been amazing! We are so happy to have come this far and be going so strong.

We started stocking up on shipping supplies, packaging and the tools/supplies that are included in the kits, in December of 2023. We had tested the website. We had tested the ordering process all the way through. We had put together the instruction video for the website. We had all the shipping requirements memorized. We setup a space to store and assemble the kits. We had all the stickers ready to go. We tested the bubble wrap, packing material and boxes for durability in shipping. We had the disclaimers and product safety labeling all done. I (Nathan) had the instructions all written up. We were ready to rock and roll when the correct injection molded pieces showed up in July.

There was just one little issue... You may have noticed that "we" had gotten everything ready to go except for one thing. It was "I" and not "we" that had the instructions all written up. That was the only thing that I (Nathan) did on my own. Yup all 11 glorious pages worth of instructions. I was pretty proud of those instructions. I was the details guy in the deal so they had to be great.. right? Well my wife was not so convinced. Undeterred I had others look over my glorious work of informational artistry. I did not get good feedback. Too long. Too wordy. Too confusing. The order and separation of each separate step is unclear. If I wanted to muse on the subject, I am sure I could remember a heck of a lot more.

Now what? The only thing we could do is start over from scratch. "We", not "I" this time. More problems became apparent the further we got into it. Some of the installation techniques I had used in the video and described in the written instructions were not easy to follow or duplicate. New written instructions and new video.

We spent weeks on end and had a lot of help with our instructions. We hired a few talented people. We owed some big favors and steak dinners to a couple talented friends. But in the end we have some pretty awesome instructions. We get a lot of compliments on them. Which is awesome. Since we started we have not made any revisions or updates to the instructions. Also we have had almost no technical or installation questions. Except for one question. Which kit do I need? But that is a blog post for another day.
