I was taking a shower this morning before work and thinking about my Nissan Rogue Heater Fix repair kit. (Legal CYB ;o) Not affiliated or endorsed by Nissan) I had a disagreement with a company doing some of the pre manufacturing work yesterday. I was up late sending off emails and woke up with it all swirling in my head.
I had some trouble with my shower valve getting the water temperature correct. Then it all hit me! I went through the whole shower issue in my mind. There are two control valves that are brand new as of a few years ago. Not just any valves. They are top quality Moentrol valves purchased through a local plumber who only sells the best models- not cheap ,big box store versions, with the same Moen name. The pex piping is all new, and has adequate 3/4 inch sizing to deliver plenty of water pressure and flow. The water heater is working well. The water pressure is great. I had already been up for hours, so I was clear and alert when I was adjusting the valve. So what was the problem?
The story starts years earlier. My wife came out one day and said the shower wall is caving in. I was horrified to find that the bottom of the wall, where the shower flow normally hit, was soft and flexing. So I pushed in the tiles to asses the damage. Luckily there was no water or moisture behind the wall or the top of the downstairs ceiling drywall underneath the shower yet.
I could not believe the poor craftsmanship. The tiles were not even set with the proper thin set tile cement. There was no vapor barrier. No tile backer board. Only some sort of brown glue between the tiles and straight up drywall. Unbelievable. And unbelievable that it lasted that long. Almost 40 years. But that is no excuse for cutting corners on poor workmanship. I am a super stickler about anyone who says that they can do something. If you say you can do something right- you MUST be able to do it right! I live and die by that.
That being said I am the one that replaced the plumbing when my wife and I rebuilt the shower. But I do not claim to be a plumber. I will never say that I can do it well. I will never sell any plumbing services. And I was willing to live with it not being perfect to save some money. (Actually if I had the money I would have hired it out in a heartbeat) I did know 100% though what my limitations were. I hired a professional plumber for the more technical sweat fittings to make sure there were no leaks.
So the shower valve did not adjust perfectly this morning not because of inferior parts, but because of inferior workmanship. The shower turned out exactly how we (actually my wife) wanted it, aside from the flaws that are mine to own. She has a short shower head that fits her, I have a tall shower head, and she thinks the whole thing is perfect because she always sees the good in everything. My valve turns the wrong way for temperature which is probably why it doesn't work perfectly. I spent so much time on that how did that happen....oh well there is a good lesson on letting go.
All this came flooding into my mind because of the issues I have had getting the manufacturing design for my patent pending Nissan Rogue Heater Fix parts. The concept is tested and tried. But getting it manufactured and having it turn out perfect has been a grueling process. I could have had an inferior product months ago that would probably last 10 years. But I want a perfect product that will last the life of the vehicle. I have held my ground against people that I have hired, that have not lived up to my high standards. And I will continue to do so.
I have detailed instructions with the Nissan Rogue Heater Fix so that it can be installed correctly. The instructions for repairing the heater box are not hard-they just need to be followed completely without any cutting corners. The product will be absolutely incredible, so it is up to you to follow the instructions! God bless and have a great day!
